Frequently Asked Questions

How do meetings work?

As an organization, we meet once quarterly for our info sessions. Due to the project based nature of our organization, each project team runs their own independent weekly meetings. Click here to learn more about our project teams and their meeting times. Besides project teams, we have a dedicated officer board that supports the project teams and helps spread the message of EWB.

How much of a commitment is a project team?

It is important to keep in mind that with how our teams are setup, you get out however much you put in. Overall project team workload often depends on what stage of the project the team is currently in, and if you want to be a more active member within a team, you can elect to take on more tasks and responsibilities.

Do I need to be an engineer to join?

This is a common question asked by people, but despite our name the answer is no. There is a lot of work done within project teams outside of engineering designs such as grant writing, fundraising, project reports, and communication with local community members. We welcome a diverse group of members no matter their background or skill level as long as they are interested in learning and helping out in whatever way they can!

How can I participate outside of project teams?

Great question! Our organization holds many different volunteer events, fundraisers, and social events and everyone is welcome to help out or participate. We also host professional development events, tabling sessions, and workshops throughout the year. Feel free to reach out to the officer board to learn more.
